ISP INVESTIGATES TRAFFIC CRASH WITH INJURIES

The Following Preliminary Information is Being Released by Illinois State Police District 12

WHAT:                      Two Vehicle Traffic Crash with Injuries

WHERE:                   Illinois Route 37 in the area of the Interstate 57 ramp, south of Watson, Effingham County

WHEN:                      Oct. 16, 2021 at approximately 5:01 p.m.

VEHICLES:              Unit 1 – Maroon 2002 GMC Yukon 

                                    Unit 2 – Gray 2005 Ford F-150

DRIVERS:                 Unit 1 – Samuel E. Brockett, an 18-year-old male from Mason, IL - Transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

                                    Unit 2 – Anthony D. Kruger, a 31-year-old male of Newport, TN – Refused medical attention.

PRELIMINARY:      Preliminary investigative details indicate the following occurred: Unit 1 was at the T-intersection of Illinois Route 37 and the ramp to and from Interstate 57, waiting to turn. Unit 2 was traveling northbound on Illinois Route 37 in the same area. Unit 1 entered the roadway in front of Unit 2. Unit 2 struck Unit 1 in the driver's side.

                                    The driver of Unit 1 was transported by ambulance to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of Unit 2 refused medical attention. No further information will be disseminated at this time.

CHARGES:               The driver of Unit 1 was cited for Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid a Crash.

All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law
