ISP TRAFFIC CRASH ALERT  

The Following Preliminary Information is Being Released by Illinois State Police

District 12 

WHAT:                      Single Vehicle Fatality Traffic Crash

WHERE:                   Illinois Route 128, 1 ¼ Mile North of Illinois 33, Effingham County

WHEN:                      Aug. 23, 2020 at 5:29 p.m.         

VEHICLE:                Unit 1- 2017 Red Harley Davidson Motorcycle

DRIVER:                   Unit 1- 54 year old male from Pawnee, IL - Deceased

PRELIMINARY:      A preliminary investigation indicates the following occurred: Unit 1 was traveling south on Illinois 128 approximately 1 ¼ mile north of Illinois 33 in Effingham County. For unknown reasons, the driver of Unit 1 left the roadway to the left and struck a ditch. The driver was ejected as the motorcycle flipped over. The driver was flown to a regional hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The Sangamon County Coroner’s Office will release the driver’s name later today. This crash is still under investigation and no further details are available at this time.
