Resurfacing Project Scheduled for U.S. 231 in Jasper
DUBOIS COUNTY, Ind. – The Indiana Department of Transportation announces lane closures on U.S. 231/State Road 56 for road resurfacing.
Beginning on or around Wednesday, March 18, contractors will begin work to resurface U.S. 231 from Bartley Street to 37th Street. During this project, workers will also be performing upgrades for compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, including the installation of curb ramps. Work will begin with patching and the ADA compliance work and later this summer, workers will apply a new driving surface. This could also affect the traffic signals in the work zone as the sensors will be altered during the course of construction.
One lane of traffic will remain open in each direction at all times. However, lanes will be restricted to 10 feet. Wider loads should seek an alternate route using the nearest numbered state route, U.S. highway or interstate. Restrictions will be in place around the clock. Work is expected to be complete by the beginning of August depending upon weather conditions.
INDOT urges drivers to slow down and stay alert near crews.
