Mt. Carmel officials are starting the process of replacing an 800 feet stretch of storm sewer along West 3rd Street. Street Superintendent Dave Easter says bid specs are being put together for the project that will run from Tastee Freeze to Division Street for an 18 inch storm sewer. Easter said he is awaiting information from the Illinois Department of Transportation before the bid specs can be finalized. According to Easter, soil conditions and the scope of the work prevent city crews from performing the work causing the need for the project to be let for bids.
