The Mt. Carmel City Council is moving ahead to vacate an alley and part of a street within the city  limits. The first request was from Storage Express on West 3rd Street to vacate an alley between their existing property and an adjacent property the company recently purchased.

The second was near the high school on Plum Street which runs behind the top of Riverview Stadium. City Clerk Rudy Witsman said the school district is looking at acquiring a grant to help resurface parking lots and that portion of Plum Street. But in order to do that, the school district must own the street instead of the city.

City commissioners approved sending both requests to city attorney Kelli Storckman to prepare the necessary paperwork.
