ISP TRAFFIC CRASH ALERT  

The Following Preliminary Information is Being Released by Illinois State Police District 12 

WHAT:                      Single Vehicle Personal Injury Traffic Crash

WHERE:                   Interstate 70 Eastbound at Milepost 133, Clark County

WHEN:                      Dec. 15, 2020 at 12:45 p.m.         

VEHICLE:                Unit 1- 2021 Black Chevrolet Equinox

DRIVER:                   Unit 1- Michael Garamella, 58-year-old male from Afton, MO – Flown to an area hospital with life threatening injuries.

PASSENGER:           Unit 1- Peggy Argafg, 56-year-old female from St. Louis, MO – Flown to an area hospital with life threatening injuries.

PRELIMINARY:      A preliminary investigation indicates the following occurred: Unit 1 was traveling East on Interstate 70 near milepost 133 in Clark County. The driver of Unit 1 ran off the roadway to the left and entered the median. Unit 1 then struck a metal drainage grate and overturned multiple times. Both Unit 1 driver and passenger were flown to an area hospital with life threatening injuries.

CHARGES:               Unit 1 driver was cited for Improper Lane Usage.

All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
