ISP TRAFFIC CRASH ALERT

The Following Preliminary Information is Being Released by Illinois State Police

District 12

WHAT:                      Two Unit Personal Injury Traffic Crash

WHERE:                   US 51 at South Wabash Avenue, Marion County

WHEN:                      Nov. 13, 2020 at approximately 5:45 p.m.

VEHICLE:                Unit 1- 2016 White International Truck Tractor Semi Trailer Combination

                                    Unit 2- 2010 White Chrysler

DRIVER:                   Unit 1- Joshua McClellan, 47-year-old male of Rothbury, MI

                                    Unit 2- Tony Guard, 46-year-old male of Salem, IL (Transported to a local area hospital with injuries)                                                                                                                                                       

PRELIMINARY:      A preliminary investigation indicates the following occurred: Unit 1 was traveling eastbound on South Wabash Avenue, attempting to merge onto US-51 northbound.  Unit 2 was traveling southbound on US-51 approaching the same intersection.  Unit 1 failed to yield to Unit 2. Unit 2 struck Unit 1 in the rear axle.  Both units stopped in the intersection of South Wabash Avenue and US-51.

CHARGES:               Unit 1 driver was issued a citation for Failure to Yield when Turning Left.               

All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law
