PA Man Injured In I-70 Crash
ISP INVESTIGATES TRAFFIC CRASH WITH INJURIES
The Following Preliminary Information is being released by Illinois State Police District 12
WHAT: Single Vehicle Personal Injury Crash.
WHERE: Interstate 70 eastbound at Milepost 86, east of Altamont, Effingham County.
WHEN: Nov. 13, 2020 at 12:35 P.M.
VEHICLE: Unit 1 – Black 2012 Dodge Caravan
DRIVER: Unit 1 – Sal J. Martin, a 35-year-old male from Belle Vernon, PA - Transported by ambulance to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
PRELIMINARY: Preliminary investigative details indicate the following occurred: Unit 1 was traveling eastbound on Interstate 70 at Milepost 86. Unit 1 was attempting to pass another vehicle while driving on the left shoulder and in the median. After failing to pass, unit 1 attempted to re-enter the roadway. Unit 1 overcorrected and crossed both eastbound lanes. Unit 1 left the roadway to the right and overturned. The driver of unit 1 was completely ejected and then airlifted to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No further information will be disseminated at this time.
CHARGES: Martin was charged with Driving While License Suspended, Improper Lane Use, and Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident.
All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
