Altercation In Vehicle Results In Injuries To Driver And Passenger

ISP INVESTIGATES TRAFFIC CRASH WITH INJURIES

The Following Preliminary Information is being released by Illinois State Police District 12

 

WHAT:                      Vehicle vs. Pedestrian Personal Injury Crash

 

WHERE:                   US Route 51 southbound, just south of Red Stripe Road, south of Sandoval, Marion County

 

WHEN:                      Nov. 13, 2020 at 10:35 A.M.

 

VEHICLE:                Unit 1 – Black 2007 Mercury Mountaineer

 

DRIVER:                   Unit 1 – Tyrone G. Etheridge, a 38-year-old male from Centralia, IL - Transported by ambulance to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

 

PEDESTRIAN:         Matthew Woods, a 25-year-old male from Centralia, IL – Transported by ambulance to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

 

PRELIMINARY:      Preliminary investigative details indicate the following occurred: Unit 1 was traveling south on US Route 51, just south of Red Stripe Road in Marion County when an altercation began between Etheridge and rear seat passenger, Matthew Woods.  The Mercury came to a stop and Woods was forced from the vehicle by Etheridge. As the Mercury departed the scene, it ran over Woods’ left foot.

 

Woods was transported by ambulance to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Etheridge was also transported by ambulance to an area hospital due to injuries suffered in the altercation with Woods.  This investigation is being led by the ISP, in conjunction with the Centralia Police Department. No further information will be disseminated at this time. 

 

CHARGES:               Etheridge was charged with Leaving the Scene of an Accident with Injury, Driving with an Expired Driver’s License, and Reckless Driving. Additional charges are pending investigation.

 

 

All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
