IECC Employees “Very Satisfied” With District Operators

Results of the Employee Satisfaction Survey for the fiscal year 2019 were presented to the Board of Trustees of Illinois Eastern Community Colleges, at the regular meeting Tuesday, January 21, at Wabash Valley College, Mt. Carmel.

In the fall of each year, District employees are given the opportunity to answer a survey which reviews the operation of the District and its four colleges. The employees were given an opportunity to review health and dental benefits, information availability, personnel changes, website quality, equipment and technology needs, and a variety of other questions concerning the District.

The Board reviewed the highest areas of agreement or strong agreement and the highest areas of disagreement or strong disagreement with the administration of the District. Overall, the survey shows that employees are very satisfied with the operation of the District.

The Board approved agreements to benefit students in the dual credit program at FCC and for a smooth transition and transfer for IECC graduates to Southern Illinois University at Carbondale for the SIU-C bachelor degree level programs in Animal Sciences and in the Business Area.

A bid was approved in the amount of $44,421.95 for 33 hand held welders to be used at Olney Central College.

Affiliation agreements were approved with area health care facilities for programs in the areas of Medical Office Careers, Associate Degree in Nursing, Phlebotomy, and Paramedic Education.

Board approval was given for the employment of Joy Smith as an Educational Technology Specialist for the Title III Grant at FCC effective January 23rd; for employment of Beverly Mathews as Director of the OCC Cozy Corner Day Care Center effective January 22nd; for employment of Caleb Dunn as Maintenance and Groundskeeper at FCC effective January 23rd; for Dennis York as Coordinator of Industrial Training at LTC effective January 22nd; for Sheryl Childers as Administrative Assistant at the District Office, effective February 10th; and for Sheri Gray as Recruiter and Advisor at OCC. The Board accepted the resignations of Chad Groves, TRIO Upward Bound Counselor located at WVC, effective January 27th, Catherine Halterman, Office Assistant at FCC, effective February 1st; and for William Rude as Technology Systems Specialist at the District Office, effective February 6th.

A retirement was accepted for Don Bennett as a Workforce Education faculty member, effective June 1st.

The Tuesday, January 21st IECC Board meeting recessed and will reconvene at the IECC District Office, located at 233 East Chestnut Street in Olney, Illinois, on Monday, February 10, 2020, at 5:00 p.m. The purpose of the reconvened meeting will be personnel matters and selection of a person to fill a trustee vacancy. The Next regular meeting of the Board of Trustees will be Tuesday, February 18, at 7:00 p.m. at Frontier Community College.
