Mt. Carmel Police arrested 48-year-old Michelle L. Johnson of Mt. Carmel after police were notified that an off-duty Illinois State Trooper had stopped an intoxicated person at the intersection of 3rd and Walnut Street. MCPD Officers arrived on the scene and found Johnson to be the driver. The arresting officer reported that Johnson appeared to be under the influence of narcotics. Johnson was arrested and transported to the Wabash County Jail where she was held pending the posting of bond.
