Indiana Woman Injured & Ticketed Following I-64 Crash In Wayne County

ISP DISTRICT 19 TRAFFIC CRASH ALERT

The Following Preliminary Information is Being Released by Illinois State Police District 19:

WHAT: Personal Injury Traffic Crash

WHERE: I-64 westbound at mile post 107 ½, Wayne County

WHEN: 06/07/2019 – 2:35 pm VEHICLES: Unit 1: Silver, 2007 Honda Civic Hybrid

DRIVER: Unit 1: Bridget L. Greene, Age 23, Bloomington, IN

PASSENGER: Unit 1: None

CAUSE: Too fast for conditions.

TRANSPORTS: Greene was transported to an area hospital

ROAD CONDITIONS: Open

PRELIMINARY: According to the preliminary traffic crash investigation, Greene, who was operating the 2007 Honda Civic Hybrid, was westbound on I-64 near mile post 107 1/2 when Greene stated she moved into the left lane to pass a truck tractor, semi-trailer in combination. Greene advised it was raining when she attempted the pass. Unit 1 began to hydroplane as it began to move back into the right lane. This caused the vehicle to lose control and leave the roadway on the right side, ultimately striking the fence and numerous trees in the process. Greene incurred minor injuries and was transported to an area hospital by ambulance. Unit #1 was towed from the scene. ISP was assisted at the crash scene by Rick’s Towing, Wayne County Rural fire and Wayne County Ambulance.

CHARGES: Greene was cited for driving too fast for conditions. All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
