Prater Sentenced To 6 Years In Prison After Violating Probation

Cassandra A. Goldman, Wabash County State's Attorney, reports that Justin K. Prater, a 24-year old Mt. Carmel, Illinois man, was sentenced to the Illinois Department of Corrections by the Honorable Circuit Judge Christopher L. Weber in Wabash County Circuit Court.

State's Attorney Goldman advises that the Defendant was charged April 18, 2018, with Burglary, a Class 1 Felony. On May 15, 2018, Mr. Prater was placed on Probation for 4 years. After admitting to a violation of his probation on June 11, 2019, Mr. Prater was sentenced to 6 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections, to be followed by two years of mandatory supervised release (parole).

FACTS AND CIRCUMSTANCES OF OFFENSE:

That between March 23, 2018 and March 24, 2018, in Wabash County, Illinois, the Defendant, JUSTIN K. PRATER, committed the offense of BURGLARY in that said Defendant, without authority, knowingly entered a building of Lancaster Christian School, located at 22525 E. 640 Road, West Salem,Illinois 62476, with the intent to commit therein a theft in violation of 720 ILCS 5/19-1(a), and said burglary was committed in a school, in violation of 720 ILCS 5/19-1(b). A CLASS 1 FELONY
