Mayor Joe Judge and the Mt. Carmel City Council are green-lighting a project that has been delayed for almost a year. Sheri Spruell of the Wabash County Animal Shelter Buddies was at Monday’s City Council meeting discussing the installation of dog waste stations along popular walking routes in the city. Spruell said a similar request made last year went nowhere. She said with Judge taking over as mayor this month, she thought the time was right to re-introduce the idea. The dog waste stations that contain plastic bags and a receptacle would be installed and maintained by the shelter buddies volunteers. Possible locations include on College Drive, Oak Street, Cherry Street, and the City Park. Judge and all four commissioners agreed the project was a good one and gave Spruell and the Shelter Buddies the okay to proceed.
