WHERE:                   I-57 northbound Mile Post 152 (7 miles south of Effingham)

WHEN:                      04/17/2019, 07:23 a.m.         

VEHICLES:              UNIT 1- White 08 Honda 

UNIT 2 – Silver 08 Chevrolet

DRIVER:                   UNIT 1- 16 year old female, of St. Louis, MO

UNIT 2- Marian E. Fulk, 60, of Farina, IL                       

PASSENGERS:        UNIT 1- NONE

CHARGES:               UNIT 1 – Failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident

TRANSPORTS:       UNIT 1 –St. Anthony

UNIT 2 – St. Anthony

                                         PRELIMINARY:  Preliminary investigative details indicate Unit 1 was traveling northbound on I-57 at mile post 152 in Effingham County. Unit 2 was traveling in the same direction when it merged into the left lane to avoid IDOT work crews and reduced speed. Unit 1 failed to slow down and struck Unit 2 in the rear. Both drivers were transported to St. Anthony’s Hospital in Effingham.
