Traffic Stop Results In Two Arrested On Meth Charges

03/07/2019-Mt. Carmel Police arrested a couple after they were found to be in possession of methamphetamine during a traffic stop.  Police stopped a 2012 Chevrolet being operated by Taylor R. Sharp, age 23, of Bellmont.  Police reported that Sharp had committed a traffic violation in the area of 3rd and Bellmont Street.  

During the traffic stop police identified a passenger as 40 year old Jason L. Cox of Mt. Carmel.  Earlier in the week Mt. Carmel Police were able to obtain an arrest warrant for Cox charging him with delivery of methamphetamine.  Cox is accused of selling methamphetamine to a confidential source working for the Mt. Carmel Police Department.  Cox was arrested and during the arrest police located approximately 9 grams of methamphetamine in a sock he was wearing. Police reported finding 2 plastic bags of suspected methamphetamine in a purse belonging to Sharp.  

Both Sharp and Cox were transported to the Wabash County Jail.  A 10 month old child was taken into protective custody and turned over to a family member.  

Cox is charged with delivery of methamphetamine and possession of methamphetamine.  

Sharp is charged with possession of methamphetamine and was cited for disobeying a traffic control device and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.  Both are being held pending the setting and posting of bond.
