Mt. Carmel City officials are bracing for the imminent closing of Shopko’s West 9th Street location and the resulting impact on the city’s budget. Finance Commissioner Joe Judge said with the new fiscal year looming on May 1st, department heads should begin putting their spending plans together and those plans shouldn’t be very ambitious at all….

Judge said department heads should submit their budgets no later than March 25th.
