On 3/22/19 Mt. Carmel Police arrested Erika A.E. Cole, age 23, of Fairfield, IL, for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol following a public complaint about a reckless driver coming into Mt. Carmel from Indiana.  The arresting officer located the suspect vehicle, a white Mitsubishi, on South Walnut Street.  After observing violations of the Illinois Vehicle Code the vehicle was stopped. The officer suspected impairment from alcohol consumption so sobriety testing was conducted.  Cole showed clues to indicate impairment and was placed under arrest.  Cole was transported to the Wabash County Jail where she was charged for DUI, Operating Uninsured Vehicle and Improper Lane Usage.  Cole was held pending the posting of bond.
