On 2/04/19 at 10:07am Mt. Carmel Police responded to a vehicle collision in the area of 8th & Chestnut Street.  Officers arrived to find that a maroon Saturn, being operated by Wilma J. Gerrish, was traveling south on Chestnut Street.  The other involved vehicle was a yellow Nissan, being operated by Selena D. Carpenter, that was traveling west on 8th Street.  Carpenter reportedly stopped at the posted stop sign, did not see the Saturn, and proceeded into the intersection striking the Saturn.  The Saturn sustained major damage to the front driver's side area while the Nissan sustained major damage to it's front end.  Gerrish was transported to an area hospital by a family member for injuries sustained in the crash.  Carpenter was issued a citation for Failure to Yield at a Stop-Yield Intersection.  Both vehicles were towed from the scene by Snelling's Towing.  The Mt. Carmel Police Department was assisted by the Wabash County Sheriff's Office.  **All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.**
