VANDERBURGH COUNTY, Ind. – The Indiana Department of Transportation announces short-term lane closures on I-64 near Evansville.

Beginning on or around Tuesday, March 5, contractors will shut down the westbound right lane of I-64 close to mile marker 28, about 2 miles west of the I-69 interchange, to replace sensors in the pavement. On March 6, workers will close the eastbound lanes for the same operation in two phases. The eastbound left lane will be shut down from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and the eastbound right lane will be closed from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The sensor replacement operation is expected to take two days depending upon weather conditions. Sensors on the interstate are used to collect traffic data as well as help equipment, such as traffic signals, perform at optimal efficiency.
