One of Mt. Carmel’s notorious areas for flooding during heavy rains is the 9th and Poplar Streets area. But, the city is finally taking action to remedy water headaches there. Street commissioner Eric Ikemire  said street superintendent Dave Easter and his crew have successfully pinpointed why the area suffers so much flooding…

Last night, the city council voted to spend $68,160 to replace the 140 feet of pipe in that area they hope will alleviate the flooding issues. TIF money will be used to pay for the project since money for the work is not included in the city budget.
