Student Threat at Mt. Carmel High School

From Superintendent Dr. Chuck Bleyer:

On January 29th, a report was received by local law enforcement that a high school student allegedly made a comment to other students that referenced bringing a weapon to school. Mt. Carmel Police, along with the Wabash County Sheriff’s Department, immediately investigated the incident. After further investigations by local law enforcement and the high school administration, the student in question was taken into custody. It has been concluded that the police did not deem the alleged threats to be viable. Mt.Carmel High School has taken, and will continue to take, all appropriate actions to maintain a safe and orderly environment. We want to assure the public that District #348 schools take all threats seriously and will continue to be diligent if and when they come to our attention.
