ISP DISTRICT 19 TRAFFIC CRASH ALERT

The Following Preliminary Information is Being Released by Illinois State Police District 19:

What: Personal Injury Traffic Crash

Where: US 45 .25 miles North of Eldorado

When: 12/04/2019 at approximately 12:40 a.m.

Vehicles: Blue 2007 Harley-Davidson Motorcycle

Driver: John P. McKay, age 40 from Carmi, IL

Cause: Deer entering roadway

Preliminary: According to the preliminary crash investigation, Unit 1, a Blue Harley-Davidson motorcycle, d

riven by John P. McKay, age 40, of Carmi, IL, was traveling northbound on US 45 approximately .25 miles north of Eldorado when a deer entered the roadway. McKay was unable to avoid striking the deer. Unit 1 then overturned and McKay was ejected. McKay was not wearing a helmet. McKay was then transported to a local hospital, then by Air Evac to Regional Hospital in Evansville, IN. District 19 Troopers were assisted by Eldorado Police Department.
