BILL EASTON TO RUN FOR STATE’S ATTORNEY

Attorney Bill Easton has announced his intention to seek the Republican Party nomination for Wabash County State’s Attorney. Since November of 2016, he has served as the Public Defender for conflict cases in Wabash County. During this time, he has handled over 75 criminal felony and misdemeanor cases. He has also represented children and parents in various juvenile delinquency and child-related matters involving state intervention. “I am ready from day one to work for the citizens of Wabash County by aggressively prosecuting crime, helping keep our community safe for children and elders, and promoting our community as a great place to live, work, raise children, and run a business. I pledge to do so by treating everyone crossing my path with fairness and dignity,” Easton said.

Since August of 2014, Easton has maintained a private law practice as the Law Office of William Easton, Jr., in which he regularly handles civil litigation involving marriage, family and child-related cases, personal injury, employment, real property, debt collection and other disputes. In 2001, Easton came to Mount Carmel to work with the law firm of Rhine, Ernest & Vargo (later Rhine Ernest, LLP) as an attorney. His work involved title search and analysis, document review, examination of abstracts and writing title opinion letters and drafting documents necessary to cure defects in title, all for the purpose of advising corporate clients on ownership of coal, oil, gas and other minerals. During these years, he also handled many criminal and civil litigation cases.

Easton has involved himself in public and community service since coming to Mount Carmel. Since 2002, he has been a member of the Executive Committee of the Wabash Valley Arts Council in the selection and staging of professional and community theater productions at Wabash Valley College, appearing onstage in several productions. Since 2003, he has been a member of the Rotary Club, serving two terms as its President. Since 2010, he has served on the Board of Directors of Wabash General Hospital, with a three-year term as Chairman through 2018. Since 2011, he has served on the Mount Carmel Public Library Board of Directors. Recently, he has volunteered to coach youth basketball and soccer.

Easton lives in Mount Carmel with his wife, Nicole (Moore) Easton, a lifelong resident of Mount Carmel and proud former member of the MCHS Marching Aces and their son, Jackie Del (JD) Easton, an enthusiastic 2nd grader at MCES.
