ISP TRAFFIC CRASH ALERT

WHAT:                      Injury Crash

WHERE:                   Dieterich Blacktop at County Road 1765 E    (Clay County)

WHEN:                      10/01/2019, 5:30 p.m.         

VEHICLES:              UNIT 1- 2008 Brown Ford sedan

PEDESTRIAN:         UNIT 2- Brandy M. Mckinnies, 42, Mount Vernon, IL

DRIVER:                   UNIT 1- Alvin A. Austin, 87, Mason, IL

PASSENGERS:         None

CHARGES:               UNIT 1 – Improper passing of authorized emergency vehicle causing injury to another, Failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, Improper passing on the right.                

TRANSPORTS:        UNIT 2 – Transported to Deaconess Hospital via Air Evac.

PRELIMINARY:  Preliminary investigative details indicate Unit 1 was traveling north on Dieterich Blacktop at County Road 1765 E.  Unit 2 was working in a construction zone.  Unit 1 failed to reduce speed while entering the construction zone and struck Unit 2.

All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law
