Today is Columbus Day and while most school districts in Illinois have the day off, it’s not a school holiday for District #348 students. For the first time in memory, students in District #348 are in school today as part of a big overhaul of the 2019-20 school calendar orchestrated by Superintendent Dr. Chuck Bleyer who said a big goal of the new calendar was to end the school year by Memorial Day…

The other traditional holiday Bleyer did away with was Veterans Day next month. While District #348 students are in class today, St. Mary’s and Allendale Schools are closed today. Also, there are no classes today at Wabash Valley College.
