Mt. Carmel Man Faces Charges In Two Sunday Incidents

On 9/23/18 Mount Carmel Police arrested Zachary A. Mathis, age 27, of Mount Carmel for Disorderly Conduct following a complaint on Mathis in the area of 7th & Vine Street.  The complainant, two nearby residents, stated Mathis was yelling threats towards them, in front of their children, about various things today.  The residents were allowed to sign a complaint against Mathis who was located at his residence in the 600 block of Vine Street.  Mathis was taken into custody and transported to the Wabash County Jail where he was charged and held pending bond.

A short time later Police were dispatched to a residence in the 1000 block of West 6th Street regarding a trespass and criminal damage to property complaint.  Officers arrived and spoke to the complainant who reported that Mathis had caused damage by “keying” his Chevy truck.  Officers observed “666” carved into the rear of the truck.  Officers found two witnesses nearby that stated they observed Mathis on the complainant’s property in the early morning hours standing at the rear of the Chevy truck.  Mathis, who was already in custody from the Disorderly Conduct arrest, was then charged with Criminal Trespass to Real Property and Criminal Damage to Property. Mathis is now being held pending a bond setting by a judge.
