DAR Observes Constitution Week
Mount Carmel Chapter National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution meeting was on September 18, 2018, opened with prayer and Dinner at 6 PM, Elk’s Lodge dining room. After dinner meeting was called to order by Regent-Barbara Lant Easter, with PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE TO THE FLAG OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, the Singing of NATIONAL ANTHEM by all member present. New members were welcomed an oath was administered by
Chaplain, Past Regent (1998-2003)-Sara Steckler Caddell to Melisa Blevins, Mary Kay Green Hurley, Ashton Raffery Gordon, Emily Christine Brown and Elizabeth Ellen Snow Fiero. Mt Carmel Chapter has 113 members and two new applications to be submitted to Washington DC.
DAR messages, minutes and reports were given by members. Minutes of May 2018 meeting approved. Mt Carmel Chapter NSDAR received three awards from President General Ann Turner Dillon, #1 NSDAR MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE Presented to the MOUNT CARMEL CHAPTER, ILLINOIS, NORTH CENTRAL DIVISION, for OUTSTANDING CHAPTER REPORT, #2 MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE Presented to the MOUNT CARMEL CHAPTER, ILLINOIS, NORTH CENTRAL DIVISION for TREKKER LEVEL CHAPTER and #3 Awards this Citation to the MOUNT CARMEL CHAPTER, for outstanding accomplishments in attaining CHAPTER ACHIEVEMENT AWARD, LEVEL 1, 2017, Signed Ann Turner Dillon-President General NSDAR And Linda Smith Sandlin, National Chair Chapter Achievement Awards Committee. Mt. Carmel Mayor William C. Hudson signed a proclamation observing CONSTITUTION Week September 17-23, 2018.
Roll call was answered by “Did you ring a bell on September 17, 2017”, for Constitution Week. The total was 745 this included Elementary School 2 grade students. Mount Carmel 8th graders classes of Yvette Heneager.

ILLINOIS PRAIRIE CERTIFICATES are award to members that had ancestor living in the state of Illinois at the time it became a state 200 years ago on December 3, 1818.
ILLINOIS PRAIRIE CERTIFICATES were presented to Mary Susan Wood Wood and her daughter Mary Susan Wood also Audrey Locke Hinderliter received three for her ancestors living In Illinois two hundred years ago. Thank you card were written by all attending to be given to veterans that will be returning on The Honor Flights to ST Louis, Mo and Evansville, IN. The evening end with a Game of American History Revolution Bingo a game designed and presented by past Regent (2010-2013)-Donna Marie Willis Sigler. Next meeting October 23, 2018, at 11:30 AM Salad Luncheon please bring a salad, EUM Church, 2010 Cherry Street (Illinois State Route 1 N), Mt Carmel, Illinois. Illinois State Regent Gloria Flathom to be honored guest. Program “Until You Spread Your Wings. You Have No Idea How Far Your Can Fly”.
