ISP DISTRICT 19 TRAFFIC CRASH ALERT

The Following Preliminary Information is Being Released by Illinois State Police District 19:
WHAT:   Fatal Traffic Crash
WHERE:    Illinois Route 141, east of Denium Road (Gallatin County)  
WHEN:   04/29/2018, at approximately 8:18 pm
VEHICLES:   White, 2003 Ford F150 Truck       Red, Case 1030 Comfort King Tractor, towing a Disc Plow     Gray, 2002 Chevrolet Truck, towing a Trailer
 
DRIVERS:   Billy J. Karnes, Age 58, of Eldorado, Illinois (Ford Truck)    Timothy R. Brinkley, Age 20, of Norris City, Illinois (Case Tractor /     Deceased)     Robert N. Waters, Age 41, of Omaha, Illinois (Chevrolet Truck) 
 
PASSENGERS:  Sandra C. Loyd, Age 35, of Omaha, Illinois
CAUSE:   Remains under investigation. 
TRANSPORTS:  None
ROAD CONDITIONS: Open  

PRELIMINARY:  According to the preliminary traffic crash investigation, the driver of the 2003 Ford F150 truck, Billy J. Karnes, was eastbound on Illinois Route 141, east of Denium Road in Gallatin County, when for unknown reasons, he struck the rear of an eastbound disc plow, being towed by a Case Comfort King tractor, driven by Timothy R. Brinkley.  Following impact, the Case tractor overturned.  A 2002, gray Chevrolet truck, towing a trailer, driven by Robert N. Waters, was westbound on Illinois Route 141, and debris from the traffic crash caused damage to his vehicle.    
 
Brinkley was pronounced deceased at the scene of the traffic crash.  Karnes was transported to a regional hospital, via Air Evac, for treatment of injuries he sustained.  Neither Waters, nor his passenger, Sandra C. Loyd, received any injuries as a result of the crash.      

 
    An ISP Crash Reconstruction Officer (CRO) has been assigned to assist with the crash investigation.  ISP District 19 was assisted at the crash scene by the White County Sheriff’s Department, Norris City Police Department, Norris City Fire Department, Omaha Fire Department, New Haven Fire Department, Norris City First Responders, White County Ambulance, Transcare Ambulance, Air Evac, White County Coroner, and Cherry Street Automotive Towing Service.
