The Following Preliminary Information is Being Released by Illinois State Police District 12

WHAT:  Personal Injury Crash  
 
WHERE:   Effingham County 1000 North @ 1000 East (Funkhouser Road) 
 
WHEN:  4:19 PM  
 
VEHICLES:  Unit #1 – Green Honda Rincon ATV     
 
DRIVER:  Unit #1 – Drew A. Meyers, 26, of Watson, IL     PASSENGER:           Unit #1 – Leandra K. Meyers, 28, of Watson, IL
 
Charges:                    Careless Operation of an ATV, Improper Lane Usage.      

             PRELIMINARY:   Preliminary investigative details indicate Unit #1 was northbound on Funkhouser road when Unit #1 lost control on the gravel shoulder and overturned.  Both occupants were ejected from the ATV onto the roadway.  The ATV continued northbound and came to rest in the west ditch.  The driver of Unit #1 was airlifted to Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana by AirEvac Life Team.  The driver of Unit #1 was cited for careless operation of an ATV and improper lane usage.
