Culvert Pipe Replacement Scheduled for SR 56 in Hazelton
GIBSON COUNTY, Ind. – The Indiana Department of Transportation announces a pipe replacement in Gibson County on State Road 56.
Beginning on or around 8 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20, INDOT crews will begin excavating and replacing a culvert pipe under S.R. 56 just west of U.S. 41 in Hazelton. Work is expected to take about a day depending upon weather conditions. During the operation, local traffic will have access up to the point of closure. All other traffic should use the official detour following U.S. 41, S.R. 64, S.R .65, and S.R. 56.
After the operation, to allow for compaction of fill material, there may be some loose gravel for a couple of days before crews apply asphalt surfacing. Crews will be monitoring the sites daily and will work to minimize inconvenience to motorists during that time. INDOT urges drivers to slow down and stay alert near crews.
