On 12/06/17 at 4:49pm Mt. Carmel Police arrested 30 year old Mt. Vernon, IL resident Joshua A. Pearce following a traffic stop for expired registration on a white Oldsmobile at 9th & Mulberry Street. During the stop K-9 Officer Daniel Hopper and his dog “Ace” conducted a free air narcotics sniff to the exterior of Peace’s vehicle. “Ace” indicated on the vehicle for the presence of illegal drugs so a search was conducted. The search resulted in officers locating (2) hypodermic needles. Peace, who was a passenger in the vehicle, admitted the needles were his and used to ingest drugs. Peace was placed under arrest and later transported to the Wabash County Jail. Pearce was transported to the Wabash County Jail where he was charged and is being held on a $150 cash bond.
