Happy Winter Solstice! Today is the shortest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere, as the sun has reached its southernmost point. The graphic shows an interesting comparison between our area and other parts of the country. You will notice the length of daylight decreases the farther north you are. Here in Paducah, KY the highest sun angle only reaches 30 degrees above the horizon today, compared to 76 degrees on the Summer Solstice. The amount of daylight starts increasing tomorrow!
