Bloomington, Ind.—Indiana Women’s Basketball standout, Tyra Buss says she and her agent Vasilis Giapalakis of VNG Hoops has made an agreement for Buss to join the Connecticut Sun. Buss will join Head Coach of the Sun Curt Miller, whom recruited Tyra to Indiana University in 2012, but later left the University before Tyra made it to campus.
After agreeing to terms with the Connecticut Sun with a WNBA Rookie Contract, Buss released the following statement.

Tyra Statement: “I am excited to announce that I have signed with the Connecticut Sun and will be joining Curt Miller, the coach who recruited me to Indiana University. I feel very blessed and I’m so grateful for this opportunity! I look forward to the challenge of competing alongside such talented players and the chances that it will give me to learn and grow as a player. Thank you to IU, my coaches and my teammates for their support and friendships these past four years. Without them this wouldn’t be possible. She left the program as the all-time leader in points, assists, steals, points per game, free throws made, free throws attempted and 2nd in three-pointers made. Buss ended her career with a WNIT Championship and Most Valuable Player honors in front of the largest crowd in Indiana University Women’s Basketball history of 13,007.

The Buss family also released a statement. “As parents, we are very proud of her! We know the countless hours she has put in and the sacrifices she has made to get to where she is today! To be able to sign a contract for the WNBA is very exciting! Tyra understands that a lot of work is needed to make the team, but all she ever wanted was a chance. She has that now.
