Charles W. “Chuck” Skidmore, 80, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away Sunday, February 23, 2025 at his residence.
Services for Chuck will be Thursday, February 27, 2025 at 12:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Short Cunningham Funeral Home. Visitation for family and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon on February 27, 2025 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Lick Prairie Cemetery with full Military Honors.
Memorials for Charles Skidmore can be made to Pleasant Grove Church or Wabash County Quail Club.
Chuck was born on April 2, 1944 in Morgantown, West Virginia to Franklin Charles and Lillian (Morgan) Skidmore. He graduated University High School in Morgantown, West Virginia and served his country in the U.S. Army. He worked as the Wabash County Animal Control Officer.
He married Edna Mae Deisher on October 22, 1966 at Pleasant Grove Church. They had fifty-eight years together. To this union there were three children born, Deana (Jeff) LaVarier of Mt. Carnel, Shawn (Darin) Campbell of Mt. Carmel, and Jonathan Skidmore of Indianapolis, Indiana; grandchildren, Trent (Kaleigh) LaVarier, Taylor ( Kaeli) Lavarier, Connor (MyLeah) LaVarier, Dakota Campbell, Shealey Campbell; great grandchildren, Cash, Sawyer and Beau LaVarier. Also surviving are his brothers Harry (Cherrell) Skidmore of Pikeville, Kentucky and Rob Skidmore of Morgantown, West Virginia.
He was a member of Wabash County Quail Club, Wabash County Farm Bureau and Mt Carmel Ham Radio KB9KHB. Chuck was an avid coon hunter, enjoyed riding motorcycles and watching NASCAR races. He often traveled to visit family in West Virginia.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, brother Ward and his wife Barbara Skidmore and nephew Frankie Skidmore.
