W. C. “Dub” Dallas, 94

W. C. “Dub” Dallas of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, peacefully passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at Oakview Heights at the age of 94.

Funeral Services will be Saturday, August 24, 2024, at 10:45 a.m. in the Chapel of Short-Cunningham Funeral Home, Mt. Carmel. A Masonic Service will be held prior to the funeral at 10:30 a.m. Burial will take place at Highland Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation for family and friends will begin at 9:00 a.m. and continue until 10:30 a.m.

W. C. was born April 10, 1930, to the late Henry and Myrtle (Wilkins) Dallas. W. C. married Violet Dutton in November 1948. They enjoyed over 66 years of marriage.

Dub was a deeply religious man. He grew up on a farm west of Harrisburg, Illinois and was the next to the youngest of nine children. He worked as a coal miner until going to work with Schlumberger Oil Services in 1959. His tenure with Schlumberger brought him to Mt. Carmel. He finished his career as a hoistman at AMAX Keensburg Mine. His life was a devotion to his family, to God, and to his community.

Dub is survived by his son David (Marjorie) Dallas of Mt. Carmel; son-in-law Tom Casburn of Indianapolis; grandchildren Matt (Katie) Casburn and Brandon (Jenny) Casburn both of Indianapolis and five great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Violet; daughter Pamela; siblings: Helen Capel, Loren Dallas, Nellie Malone, Edna Bruce, Dayton Dallas, Harold Dallas, and Lou Ann Yates.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to the Wabash County Youth In Action, 400 N Market St, Mount Carmel, IL 62863 or may be left at the funeral home.
