Keith Allen Hocking, 76

Keith Allen Hocking, 76, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away February 7, 2024, at Linda White Hospice Facility surrounded by his family.

Services will be held Sunday, February 11, 2024, at the Keensburg Christian Church at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor Allan Wright officiating. Burial will follow at Antioch Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the Keensburg Christian Church on Saturday, February 10, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.

Keith was born to the late Robert C. and Myrtle (Bosecker) Hocking on June 12, 1947, in Princeton, Indiana. He graduated from Mount Carmel High School in 1965 and then attended SIU where he received his bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Education. He was married on July 26, 1969, to Vicki Peach at the Keensburg Christian Church and enjoyed 54 years of marriage. To this union two children were born: Kristi M. (Mark) Wright of Mount Carmel, Illinois, and Bradley Keith (Marla) Hocking of Mount Carmel, Illinois. Also surviving are his grandchildren: Deric (Regan) Wright, Lauryn Wright (Fiancé Luke Gould), Jacob (Tessa) Hocking, and Paige Hocking, brother Melvin (Marilyn) Hocking and sister Irma Hocking. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Keith’s passion was being a farmer. He served on several Illinois and Wabash County Farm Bureau Committees, which included being President of the board in 2006 and 2007, and he was recently Wabash County Activator Trustee for the Illinois Ag Association. In high school he was highly active in FFA and was a Sentinel and President. Keith also spent many years as a 4H member. He adored attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. Keith loved to travel, whether it was taking bus tours or going on cruises. His favorites were Alaska, Hawaii, and the Panama Canal. Keith was an active member of Keensburg Christian Church which he served as an Elder and board member. He was also a Charter Member of the Keensburg Fire Department and the Greater Wabash County Rural Fire Protection District Trustee for 27 years.

Memorials can be made to Keensburg Christian Church. Envelopes will be available at the service.
