Brett Shaw, 52
Brett Shaw, 52, of Albion, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at his residence surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on February 13, 1972 in Centralia, Illinois, the son of Micheal and Kathy (O’Daniel) Shaw. Brett married Kristen Hering on August 5, 1995 and together they have enjoyed twenty-eight years of marriage centered on their family.
Brett worked as owner/operator of Shaw Trucking. He also worked at the coal mine and Duke Energy. During his younger years, Brett worked in the oilfield for his grandfather. Among Brett’s hobbies, he enjoyed restoring old tractors, semis and trucks. Brett also liked driving semi’s and operating heavy equipment. He loved his family and treasured the time spent with them; especially his granddaughter, Ivory Ann. He was fond of animals and loved spending time with all his animals. Brett suffered from a spinal cord injury in 2012. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Brett will be remembered by his loving wife, Kristen Shaw; two daughters, Makayla Haggard and husband, Ty, and Jaycie Shaw; granddaughter, Ivory Ann Haggard; parents, Michael and Kathy (O’Daniel) Shaw; mother-in-law, Agnes Hering; many loved aunts, uncles, cousins and special friends.
Brett was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Howard and Mary Lou Shaw; maternal grandparents, Wanda (Mitchell) Billingsley, Mac O’Daniel and Leroy Billingsley; uncles, Stanley Shaw, Mark Shaw, Mark “Odie” O’Daniel, Sam Billingsley, and David Glover; aunt, Pat Wells; and special friends.
In keeping with Brett’s wishes, no formal services will be held at this time. A Private Celebration of Life to honor the life of Brett will be held at a later date with immediate family and special friends.
In lieu of flowers and per the family’s request, memorial contributions can take the form of donations to your local church or animal shelter in memory of Brett.
