Linda Retta Lange, age 87

Linda Retta Lange, age 87, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 25, 2024, at Porter, Texas. She was born on November 17, 1937, in Wabash County, Illinois, the daughter of Ancil Doyle and Rachel Imo (Howder) Wyatt. Linda attended Mt. Carmel schools, graduating in 1955.

Linda married Jerry Paul Lovellette on December 29, 1955, and the union was blessed with three children, Sequel Lynn, Dawn Yvette, and Mark Kevin. She loved her children dearly. Linda married Thomas R. Lange on December 15, 1984, and he preceded her in death on February 13, 2008.

Linda worked as a secretary all her life, including nine years with Smith-Gruner and thirteen years with Ackerman Bit Service in Mt. Carmel. Linda was great at her job – sending bits overseas and into Canada which required lots of paperwork. She was told that her work did not have one mistake and that sending goods into another country was a breeze with her in charge. Linda was once recruited by a company from Chicago, so impressed by her work that they came to see her personally. She did not take that job. However, many years later, she did accept a job in Tucson, Arizona. She drove a U-Haul across country with two teenage daughters in the car behind. This was quite a feat before cell phones! Linda was a great cook. She was known across Wabash County and parts of Oklahoma for her noodles and her “ham” salad. After retirement, Linda would mail her specialty banana muffins to her children, grandchildren and friends. Food was Linda’s love language.

Linda leaves a legacy of love to her family and friends. She will be remembered by her daughters, Sequel Campbell (husband Frank Campbell) and Dawn Lahay (wife Annette Ryan); grandchildren, Matthew Lahay, Nathan Lahay (wife Elyce Lahay), Monica Aston (husband Kyle King) and Amanda Aston (husband Tomas Gutierrez); five great- grandchildren; and many loved cousins, nieces and nephews.

Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas; her son, Mark; her parents; brother, Keith Wyatt; and sister, Deonna Hicks.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a visitation from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., Thursday, December 5, 2024, in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home.
