Trudy Lynn Fowler

Trudy Lynn Fowler of Mt. Carmel, Illinois went to be with the Lord on May 16, 2023. She was born in Eldorado, IL on December 9, 1943 to Gene and Dorothy Gidcumb. Trudy graduated from Eldorado High School in 1961 before continuing her education at Southern Illinois University and graduating from the University of Kentucky, where she received a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. After graduation, Trudy taught elementary school in Lexington, Kentucky and Indianapolis, Indiana. On September 1, 1965, Trudy married Jack Fowler. 

 After moving to Mt. Carmel, Trudy pursued entrepreneurial interests while continuing to work as a stay-at-home wife and mother. Trudy was co-owner of the Bible Book Store and Mac’s Paint and Wallpaper. Besides interior design, Trudy enjoyed spending time with her family, growing and arranging flowers, and serving at her church. Trudy’s true passion was for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was a member of Evangelical United Methodist Church, where she served as a Certified Lay Speaker and taught about the saving grace of Christ in Sunday School for over 30 years.

 Additionally, Trudy was involved in her community as a member of the Reviewer’s Matinee and serving as a member of the Wabash Valley College Foundation, where she also served as President for two years.

 Trudy is survived by her husband of 57 years, Jack, son Matthew (Tricia) Fowler, son Nathan (Lori) Fowler, and eight grandchildren: Anna, Emily, Luke, Leah, Kate, Lydia, Adah, and Jonas Fowler. She is also survived by her siblings: Mary Jane Lloyd, Cynthia (Harry) Overstreet and Kent (Linda) Gidcumb.  Trudy was preceded in death by her parents Gene and Dorothy Gidcumb. 

 Trudy’s Visitation and Funeral Services will be held at Evangelical United Methodist Church in Mt. Carmel, Illinois. Her Visitation will be Monday, May 22 from 5:00-7:00 p.m., with her Funeral Service being held Tuesday, May 23 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. at Wolf Creek Cemetery in Eldorado, Illinois.     

 Memorial contributions may be made in Trudy’s memory to Wabash Valley College Foundation, Evangelical United Methodist Church, or to Hope Pregnancy Center.  Envelopes will be at the Church or may be mailed to Keepes Funeral Home, 1500 North Cherry Street, Mount Carmel, IL 62863.
