Jerry Wayne Stoneberger, 74

Jerry Wayne Stoneberger, 74, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away Thursday, June 30, 2022, at Wabash General Hospital in Mount Carmel, Illinois.  He was born on July 25, 1947, in Mount Carmel, the son of Earl and Rosemary (Black) Stoneberger.  He married Karen Priddis on January 23, 1969, and together they have enjoyed fifty-three years of marriage, centered around their family.

Jerry faithfully served his country in the United States Army from 1965 to 1968, working as a mechanic.  He was an excellent mechanic that led him to a forty-year career with Wabash School District 348, keeping the school buses and vehicles in top shape.   In his spare time, he enjoyed working on old cars, trucks, and tractors.  His friends and family often brought their vehicles to him for repair or sought out his advice.  Jerry was a simple man who was very caring, especially to the elderly.  He always made sure they were cared for and had what they needed.  He was a pretty laid-back kind of guy, had a sense of humor and quick wit.  Jerry and Karen greatly enjoyed having their family and friends over for a cookout and fish fry for special occasions.  It was always a good time when they got together.  Jerry’s presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Jerry will be remembered by his loving wife, Karen; one son, Daniel and wife, Missy; one daughter, Kellie Malcom; grandchildren, Jeremy (Rachel) Stoneberger, Logan (Jordan) Stoneberger, Rachel (Justin) Pearson, Cory Stoneberger; step-granddaughter, Jennifer (Ron Keys) Tarlton; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Ed (Terri) Stoneberger; two sisters, Mindy Wampler, and Sandra Stoneberger.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents.
