Margie L. Sherman, 89, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away on Friday, June 24, 2022, at River Oaks Health Campus in Princeton, Indiana, surrounded by the love of her family.  She was born on July 22, 1932, in Flat Rock, Illinois, daughter of Bert and Eva (Smith) Shoulders.  She married William “Bill” Sherman on December 23, 1951, and together they enjoyed sixty-four years of marriage until his passing on December 17, 2016.

Margie was a devoted homemaker who enjoyed taking care of her home.  She loved quilting and baking.  Her favorite treat to bake was cookies.   Margie enjoyed working in the yard and tending to her flower garden.  She taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and helped with the youth group at Free Methodist Church where she was a long-time member.  Margie was a caring person, and she will be greatly missed by her family and friends. 

Margie will be remembered by two sons, Timothy Sherman of Mt. Carmel, William (Ann) Sherman of Loudon, TN; grandchildren, Chris (Abby) Sherman, Lori (Randy) Younce, Steven (Jesse) Sherman; five great-grandchildren.

Margie was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Bill; four brothers, one sister; two half-sisters; and one half-brother. 

Family and friends are invited to gather for a Visitation from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., Thursday, June 30, 2022, in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home. 

Funeral Services will be 12:00 p.m., Thursday, June 30, 2022, in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home with Pastor Deron Colgan officiating.  Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery where Margie will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband.

Memorial contributions may be made in Margie’s memory to Free Methodist Church.
