Dorcas Ruth Gienger, 68, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at her residence. Dorcas was born on October 20, 1953 in Mitchell, South Dakota, the daughter of Robert Emil and Donna Utecht.

Dorcas will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many. She enjoyed being outdoors and working in the garden. Dorcas loved staying active and found many ways to keep busy. She filled her home with Americano Knickknacks and giraffe treasures were her favorite. Dorcas was fond of animals especially her cat Abigail. She enjoyed playing and listening to the piano. In her free time, Dorcas refinished furniture and was extremely proud of her piano she was able to refinish. She was a hard worker and loved her friendships she made while working at Burger King. Dorcas was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mount Carmel. She will be missed by her family and friends.

Dorcas will be remembered by her son, Chris Gienger and wife, Ruriko of Wentzville, Missouri; two grandsons, Carter and Gavin Gienger; brothers, Robert (Karen) Utecht, Peter Utecht, Andrew Utecht, Kenneth Soyk, David Soyk, Luke Utecht and Mark Utecht; sisters, Mary Oxar, Kathy Schultz, Joanna Utecht, Sarah Gaffney and Linda Utecht; many loved cousins, nieces and nephews.

Dorcas was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Richard Soyk.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 18, 2022 at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 703 N. Market Street, Mt. Carmel, IL 62863 with Nancy Johns, SAM and Pastor Karen McNeill-Utecht of Pender, Nebraska.
