Rosanna Peterson, 83

Rosanna Peterson, 83, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, peacefully passed away Sunday April 17, 2022, at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, Indiana, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born August 18, 1938, in Wabash County, Illinois, the daughter of Gilbert Chris and Melva (Whitten) Alka. Rosanna graduated from Mt. Carmel High School and attended college. On June 9, 1956, she married Larry Edwin Peterson at First Christian Church in Mt. Carmel. He preceded her in death. They were married sixty-one years. Rosanna was a member of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ.

Rosanna worked twenty-four years as a teller for Security Bank and Trust. She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed square dancing. Rosanna was a member of the Wabash General Hospital Auxiliary and loved passing out menus. She oversaw the kitchen at First Christian Church Disciples of Christ. She was an avid baker and fantastic cook. Rosanna loved and was immensely proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Left to cherish Rosanna’s memory are her children, Susan Denise Peterson and Alisa Diane (Michael) Gidcumb; daughter in law, Mary Peterson, all of Mt. Carmel, Illinois; sister, Shirley Curry of Tampa, Florida; brother and sister in law, Rodger and MaryElla Peterson; sister in law, Becky Kincaid; grandchildren, Megan (Levi) Smith, Andrew (Jennifer) Leeper, Lauren (Daniel) Berberich, Craig Leeper, Chelsea (James) Rafferty, Tyler (Kayla) Baggett, Sydney Peterson, Joshua (Bonnie) Keepes and Andrea Russell; great grandchildren, Talon, Hailey, Cameron, Andrew, Jaxson, Stevie Diane, Jaylee, Addison, Laiken and Ryan; seventeen nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Phyllis Ulm.

Rosanna was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Larry Douglas Peterson; son in law, Leon Leeper; siblings, Gilbert Jr. Alka, Esther Mae Petros, Richard Alka, Helen Alka and infant brother, Larry Alka.

Friends and relatives are invited to a visitation from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon, Friday, April 22, 2022, at the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ, 803 N Market Street, Mt. Carmel, Illinois, with funeral services beginning at 12:00 noon.

Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ Scholarship Fund, 803 N Market Street, Mt. Carmel, Illinois. Envelopes will be available at the church and funeral home.
