David A. Banks, 82

David A. Banks, 82, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away Monday, October 24, 2022, at home, surrounded by his loving family.  He was born on July 17, 1940, in Allendale, Illinois, the son of Charles R. and Sarah Opal (Dewitt) Banks.  On October 9, 1959, he married Judy Tatro at the United Methodist Church in Mount Carmel, and together they have enjoyed sixty-three years of marriage centered around their family.

 David worked as a coal miner at Amax Coal for thirty-two years.  He was a hard worker who enjoyed being outdoors and cutting firewood.  David spent time fishing, mushroom hunting, and taking his beloved dog, Coco, on long rides in his truck.  David often attended Gospel Kingdom Church with his wife.  He was a caring husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who greatly enjoyed spending time with his family.  David will be dearly missed by his family and friends. 

 David leaves behind his loving wife, Judy; one son, David “Bub” Banks; one daughter, Carlina (Tim) Snelling; grandchildren, Sara Banks, Chris (Mandy) Snelling, Nick Snelling, Charles Banks, Lacie (Jason) Perry, Timmy (Jessica) Snelling, Shaleigh (Keith) Kline; great-grandchildren, River Banks Perry, Josie Banks, Gracie Banks, Preston Perry, Timmy Ray Snelling III, Jasper Snelling, Logan Snelling, and Benjamin Snelling; one sister, Pauline Snyder; many loved nieces and nephews.

 David was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Helen Wilkinson, Barbara Wright, Jean Wirth, Roberta Antis, Lucille Sager, Betty Adams, Raymond Banks and Fred Banks. 

 Family and friends are invited to gather for a Visitation from 12:00 p.m.-1:00 p.m., Thursday, October 27, 2022, in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home.

 A Graveside Service will be at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, October 27, 2022, at Bethel Cemetery with Brother John Peach officiating.
