Karen Pearson, 65

Karen Pearson, 65, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away August 6, 2021, at her residence surrounded by her loved ones.

She was born March 29, 1956, the daughter of Asa and Ollie (Creech) Witt, in Harlan, Kentucky. Karen graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1974. June 30, 1977, she married Dwight Pearson in Mt. Carmel.

Karen worked at the clothing factory, Target and retired after fifteen years from Motorad. She loved being outside enjoying the sunshine, hand feeding the squirrels from her front porch, afternoon drives looking for deer and other animals, baking candy, fudge and paydays, and giving popsicles to the St. Mary’s students as they got out of school. Karen was very generous and always willing to help. She was a Pepsi drinker and only a Pepsi drinker. If you dropped by her house, you found at least ten cases of Pepsi-always! Karen’s greatest love was her family; she cherished every moment she spent with them. She watched her kids and grandkids play sports; traveling wherever they were playing.

Left to cherish Karen’s memory is her husband of 44 years, Dwight; children Barry (Kim) Pearson and Frank Pearson; grandchildren, Kasey Pearson, Kami Pearson, Stryker Pearson and Stormie Devine; and siblings, Elmer (Linda) Witt, Delmer (Lisa) Witt and Sharon (Red) Selsek.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents; twin daughters Tammy and Mary Pearson; a son Bruce Pearson; and brother, Dennis Witt.
