Charles A. Windes, 68, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away Friday, February 19, 2021, at his residence.

He was born August 15, 1952, in Mt. Carmel, Illinois, the son of Howard L. and Lucy F. (Gawthrop) Windes. Charles graduated from Mt. Carmel High School and attended college. He proudly served his country in the United States Airforce. For twenty years he worked at Snap-On Tools and retired from Allied Universal Security Service, working as security at Duke Energy Power Plant.

Charles loved southern Illinois, especially being outdoors and fishing.

Left to cherish Charles’ memory is his son Dustin C. Windes of Fairfield, Illinois; siblings Diana (Wayne) Garrett of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, Karen Odom of Princeton, Indiana, Tommy (Debbie) Windes of Palatka, Florida, Stephen Windes of Lawrenceville, Illinois, and William (Cheryl) Windes of Mt. Carmel, Illinois.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

There will be no service. Burial will take place at a later date in Ebenezer Cemetery in Samsville, Illinois.
