Harvey Calvin, 67

Harvey Calvin, 67, of Olney, Illinois, formerly of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at home. He was born on November 11, 1954, in Mount Carmel, the son of William H. and Rosie Jane (Smith) Calvin.

Harvey was a 1973 graduate of Mount Carmel High School. At the age of nineteen, he began working at Champion Laboratories and was making plans for his retirement. He enjoyed being outdoors, riding bicycles or motorcycles and his daily walks for exercise. Harvey was a ham radio operator and computer enthusiast. He loved to travel any chance he could. He was a member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church and often attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Harvey was a 4th Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus. He loved his family and friends dearly and will be missed by all who knew him.

Harvey leaves behind his children; Wm. David Calvin, Tosha Baker, and husband Mike; grandson, Vash Bruce Baker who shares his grandpa’s birthday; stepdaughter, Jamie Best; step grandchildren, Jayzale O’neal, Jaylon O’neal; siblings; Harriet Jane (Don) Peterson, Wm. Daryl Calvin, Rudy L. (Susan Harper) Calvin, Cheryl L. (Richard) Mitchell, Vincent Douglas Calvin; very special friend, Janet Newkirk along with her children and grandchildren; many loved nieces and nephews.

Harvey was preceded in death by his parents.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:00 p.m., Monday, December 6, 2021 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Fr. Robert Zwilling officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery.

Family and friends may gather for a Visitation from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m., Monday, December 6, 2021 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Social distancing, wearing of face coverings and use of hand sanitizer is recommended.

Memorial contributions may be made in Harvey’s memory to his grandson, Vash Bakers educational fund for his future college endeavors.
