James “Jim” Alexander Mastaw, 70
James “Jim” Alexander Mastaw, 70, of Fairfield, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, Indiana. Jim was born August 21, 1950 in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, to the late Alex and Opal Mastaw.
Jim was a welder for CSX railroad until his retirement. Jim enjoyed his time that he ran his own pyrotechnics business. He was a member of the VFW and the Eagles in Mt. Carmel, IL, and was also a member of the Chippewa Nation, Sault Ste Marie Tribe. Jim enjoyed NASCAR, karaoke, fishing, camping, feeding the ducks at Beall Woods and watching for deer while back road cruising with his wife. Christmas was his favorite time of the year. Jim enjoyed singing and playing his guitar, especially singing to his friends at Tower Heights. He loved his children and grandchildren deeply. Jim had many friends and will be missed by many.
Jim is survived by his wife, Tina Mastaw; his daughters, Ginger (Matt) Mastaw, Suzanne (Tom) Mastaw, and Deb (Richard) Denkema; step-children, Brian (Stephani) Carl and Shaun Carl; eleven grandchildren, Danielle, Hunter, Megan, Felecia, Emily, Phillip, Melissa, Amber, Caleb, Xane, and Jocelyn; two step-grandchildren, Eli Carl and Ty Carl; brothers, George (Cindy) Wagner, and Jerry (Barb) Sienko; sister-in-law, Kate Mastaw; many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings: Sharon (Norman) Jones, William Mastaw, and Christina Galla.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date to honor Jim’s life.
