James I. White, 94

James I. White, 94, formerly of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away Friday, June 12, 2020 at Decatur Township Center in Indianapolis, Indiana. Jim was born January 18, 1926 in Harrisburg, Illinois, the son of James I. and Gertrude White. He married Colene Legai on November 7, 1946 in Ledford, Illinois. They enjoyed 73 years together. Jim faithfully served his country in the U. S. Army for three years. He fought in World War II at the Battle of the Bulge where he was awarded two medals: the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. Jim was a member of First Baptist Church in Mt. Carmel. He was co-owner with his wife of Your Flower Shop. He worked with the Boy Scouts in Mt. Carmel and was a former member of Mt. Carmel Lions Club. Those left to share his memory are his wife, Colene; two children, Aleta and her husband, Jim Griffin of Indianapolis, IN and James and his wife, Debbie White of Mt. Carmel; grandchildren Shawn and Scott Griffin; brother, William White of Harrisburg, IL; sister, Maleta Fox of St. Louis, MO; and several nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and brother Kenneth White. There will be a drive-through visitation at Short Funeral Home (enter off of Sixth Street) on Tuesday, June 16, 2020 from 9:30a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service and Burial with full military rites will follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery at 11:30 a.m. Condolences may be made online at www.short-cunninghamfh.com.
